William D. Chapman, Civil Litigation Attorney

From the inception of his 28 year career as a civil litigation attorney, Mr. Chapman has been awarded the highest possible peer-reviewed rating of AV by the respected Martindale-Hubbell rating service.  Mr. Chapman was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers Editions 2009 and 2010. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he was on the Dean's List and won numerous Moot Court awards. He is admitted to practice before all of the Courts in the State of California including the Central, Northern, Eastern and Southern California United States District Courts as well as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal.

Mr. Chapman has practiced continuously for the last 28 years in the Southern California community. His largest jury verdict was in the amount of $16.3 million, followed by a $10 million jury verdict. He achieved a $7.75 million settlement for his client during deliberations after a two-month jury trial, a $1.2 million binding arbitration award, other six-figure jury verdicts and settlements, as well as several defense verdicts when representing defendants against multimillion dollar claims.Mr. Chapman's practice areas include business litigation as well as catastrophic injury cases. William D. Chapman is Immediate Past President of the worldwide BYU Management Society, a non-profit business group affiliated with the BYU Marriott School, Provo, Utah. Mr. Chapman has served as Chair of the Orange County and Rancho Santa Margarita chapters and currently serves as the Southern California Regional Chair. Mr. Chapman is active in the Orange County Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, having served as a member of its Board of Directors.

He served a two-year full-time mission for his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Monterrey, Mexico.  In addition to his law practice, Mr. Chapman has served in the community as AYSO soccer coach for approximately 6 years, twice as a Scoutmaster and taught early-morning religion classes for six years.  He enjoys surfing, trail running, backpacking, snowboarding and loves the outdoors.  He has been married for 27 years to Terri Chapman and considers her and his four children his greatest assets and joy in his life.
